Some People Have It All Figured Out...

Some people have it all figured out. They know exactly what they want to do as a career, they know exactly where they want to be in 5 years; they know the answers to everything. These types of people make me nervous. They make me nervous because I don't have it all figured out, not even close. I have pieces of information about what I want to do as a career, but that's about it. I haven't thought about grad school, I haven't thought about how much money I will make out of college, I haven't thought about how I'll pay off these student loans or where I will live once I graduate, and it seems like everyone else knows. So what have I been doing lately? Pitying myself, and I hate doing that. I have so many thing in my life to be thankful for, and I truly am very blessed-and I know that, but lately I have been asking this 1 question to myself. That question is, "why me?" Today I realized how stupid I am for even thinking that. SHUT UP ALYSSA! Sometimes I need people to tell me to shut up- I might give them an attitude back, but i'll get over it in 10 minutes. My Dad just texted me this message, and this is what snapped me out of my mood.

"Keep in mind that life is not always fair, but the cream always rises to the top!! So work hard, care about what you do and the rest will work itself out."

I realized that I am okay with not knowing.
Knowing is boring. Not knowing is adventurous.
John Lennon once said,
"Life happens when your busy making other plans."
One day I'll have it all figured out, but not now.

It's True!

Thoughts To You

If I ever push you away, I don't really mean to. When I tell you I don't want to talk about it, I do, I am just looking for the right words. Give me a minute, and if I can tell you; I will. I try to be a struggling mix of real and perfect at the same time. When I get really quiet sometimes, it is because I have too much to say. I have thought of too many things to tell you all at once and I don't know what to say first. I get immaturely jealous of anyone who gets to see you on a daily basis. I miss you really easily, but I also like that we can be apart and we are both okay. Space is good, too. I love the way we love some of the same things and I love how we love entirely different things. My head is a complicated pile of thoughts, and fears, and cravings, and dreams. I am flawed and I am human and I am broken and I am trying. I am one person and I am two hands and I am one heart and I love you and I am so glad you are here.

What it's Like Living in Gardner House

When I first found out last year that I was going to be living in Gardner House with one of my best friends, Courtney, I was excited! Why wouldn't I be? I didn't have to live in an overcrowded dorm with loud, obnoxious people running around at all hours of the night-unlike where I lived previously. In the summer, somebody spilled the news to me that Gardner was rumored to be HAUNTED. The house was built in the 1800's, and a family was living in it during World War 2. Rumor has it that a teenage boy hung himself in one of the rooms, and haunts the house. I thought it was BS at first, and then someone showed me a video to prove it. I then decided I wasn't looking forward to living there anymore, but it was to late to switch out. When Court and I moved in, we decided to lay down the law to this so called, "ghost." We ran around the room and screamed at the top of our lungs saying "this is our house now, leave us alone." (We read that would scare the ghost away from us online.) Guess what? We have lived here for 5 months now, and I have never experienced anything paranormal happening in this house. BUT....what I have experienced from living in Gardner is much, much worse.

TO BEGIN:

  • Every single toilet in Gardner house is clogged with the most disgusting things you can ever imagine. One time, I went to use the bathroom and there was Chinese Food hanging out in the toilet. When you have to use the bathroom, you literally have to hold it in, or run around to each floor crossing your fingers that there is a usable toilet.
  • The loud, obnoxious people that I thought wouldn't exist in Gardner House, are far worse then where I previously lived. They stampede around the house at all hours of the night. They bang into doors, knock things over, punch holes in the walls, throw chairs, kick soccer balls at each other, flip furniture upside down, clog toilets for fun, make animal noises, blast the worst music possible, and it NEVER STOPS.
  • I have nothing against people who smoke weed- but go the F outside. It doesn't help that the drug room here at Gardner House is the one that connects to my room, the one that I share a broken door with, therefore it seeps into my room and makes it smell. I would say these people smoke a joint probably 9 times a day. Oh, and to make matters worse, they smoke cigarettes in their too. Just being behind someone walking to class who is smoking a cig makes me angry, nevermind having that disgusting smoke on my bed sheets and pillows. I swear, the amount of second hand smoke I receive from these people will kill me one day.
  • The walls are paper thin. This is an old house. Stop waking us up having sex. That is all.
IN CONCLUSION:
Whoever said that living in an on campus house,
rather then a dorm, is quieter.....IS A LIAR.

I Live By The Sea

"The cure to anything is salt water- Sweat, Tears, Or the Sea."

I moved to Scituate, MA with my family about 8 years ago. Of course at the time, I refused to go and told my parents they were ruining my life, but they said they knew what was best for me. It's funny how your parents tell you your whole life how THEY know whats best for YOU. Guess what, it's mainly true. Moving to Scituate was the best decision my parents ever made for me. I never knew what a best friend was until I met the people I did in middle school and high school. They are my family. There were times when I was sitting at college, an hour away from home, and decided to get in the car and drive to Scituate because I needed the ocean. It's weird to say that I NEEDED the ocean, but it's true. The smell of the ocean, the sound of the waves the ocean makes; it all saves you. Do you know what I do on my spare days? In the Winter, I drive two minutes to the ocean with a Marylous coffee and listen to Luke Bryan's Pandora Station. In the Summer, I wake up early to go drag my best friends out of bed so we can get to the beach as soon as the sun comes up. We take out our beach chairs, put tanning lotion on, grab a Corona and lime out of the cooler, and lay there until the sun goes down.
We boat, we laugh, we make memories
Being able to listen to the waves, every day, really makes you realize how lucky you are.

I live by the Ocean with the best friends and the best family.
It brings us together. I love where I live.
